The Times They Are–A–Changin'
A colour change, orange to teal. A sixth place finish. The Christmas report.
It’s not a surprise, in fact it’s been broadcast to us for months on end. Now, however the change is in sight. On March 2nd, seventy of us will begin our course at WestJet. The sun is officially setting on Sunwing Airlines. The ten years I have spent working at Sunwing have been nothing short of legendary. So while I will miss the orange tails, our little family is all making the same move. I look forward to working with the same people on the same airplanes to new and interesting destinations.
Land of the Rising Sun
For the first time in a decade, I am crossing the Pacific. Destination Tokyo (Narita to be exact) and then off to Hakuba for a week of skiing with a crew I haven’t seen for just as long. Three Westjetters, two I’ve known for many, many years. I’m super stoked and writing this on board on my way westbound.
Christmas Time
What a month! All of Declan’s grandparents (and one great grandparent) made the pilgrimage to house Telford this year, and what a year it was. Endless rain kept us indoors for most of the season, so we built track and played HotWheels, and Thomas the Train, and the Toni, and on and on.
Act of Redemption
It isn’t last. Not winning never felt so good. A sixth place finish out of 42 writers in my group and finishing in the top 1000 of over 4000 writers has given me a chance to compete in the second round of the NYCMidnight 250 word micro fiction challenge of 2024. Here’s a link to the story on The Short Version. Generally a paid section of my work but I’m leaving this up for free for the time being.
The Rising Sun
I wrote this on descent into Tokyo so it will be an abbreviated version as I have much to tell about a week of skiing in Hakuba.
For now it’s sayonara!
